Letter to Generation X
Property, brains and character will settle the question of civil rights.
~ Booker T. Washington
Prologue
In a recent correspondence to a young protégée, Marcus Williams, who is a member of Antioch C.O.G.I.C., a wonderful black church in Detroit which in my youth helped shape my character in many profound ways, I took the occasion to outline the fundamentals of political conservatism and the necessity of Generation X to self-educate themselves on history, literature, politics, economics, science and culture; to purge their minds from the intellectual poison of liberalism in all of its subtle guises – progressivism, relativism, socialism, communism, social justice, civil rights (over constitutional rights), redistribution of wealth, Democratic Party politics, etc.
An enduring leitmotiv of this letter is the paradox of voluntary slavery – black Americans having been perpetual victims of slavery, first intertribal slavery (dating back to antiquity), Arab and Muslim trafficking of Africans (seventh century to present), European slavery (1450-1900), Colonialism Period (1880-1960) and finally the most unnoticeable, thus the most evil form of bondage, voluntary slavery, which ironically originated during the Civil Rights era of MLK and the Civil Rights Movement (1955-70).
